Department Profile 

In order to facilitate and absorb the output of the local Government Junior College, B.A Course in Telugu Medium with History, Economics & Political Science (H.E.P) was started from the inception of the college i.e. in 1982 and History,  Political Science & Sociology (H.P.S) combination was commissioned in the year 1984-1985. The main objectives of the department are:
  1.  To emphasize the relevance of history
  2.  To equip students to face competitive examinations confidently
  3.  To utilize history as a tool in shaping the over-all personality of the Student  Community
  1.  To enrich students’ understanding of recent historical trends.

  STUDENT SUPPORT
                                    Personal care is taken regarding students’ welfare and development.  Students’ profiles are maintained.  Their individual problems are identified with empathy.  All possible help is extended for the meritorious and successful students by provident needed information about entrance exams, model question papers, professional coaching centers etc.  A more concentrated attention is paid towards slow learners.  Monetary support is also given to deserving wards.   Incentives are given in the form of prizes and certificates.
TEACHING PRACTICES
                               Annual academic plans are prepared as per the syllabus.  Syllabus is completed well in advance and intensive revision is undertaken in each paper before the commencement of university examinations.
                                Teaching dairy is prepared according to class room teaching for detailed preparation for teaching.  Teaching notes is prepared with synopsis.  The synopsis is given to the students’ at entry level.
TEACHING AIDS
                                                 Question Bank, Quick Reference Material, Model Question Papers are prepared by the department. Maps are invariable part of teaching. Various topics are taught in Power Point Presentation mode. These help the students in understanding the subject thoroughly to score good marks in the University examinations and also enable them to face various competitive exams confidently.
 FUTURE PLANS
                                 The department’s goal is to make strides in instilling confidence among the students so that they aim high in their progression.  The department tries to focus in getting students admitted in prestigious institutions like HCU, JNU etc.  It is also planning to start post-graduation program in History in near future.
